Nature Vs Nurture - An Overview

Nature Vs Nurture - An OverviewNature vs. Nurture is a sample essay for high school students to help them learn about the topic of choice - gender and education. It provides students with an excellent way to understand how much of their upbringing and environment affects their early educational experiences. In addition, this type of essay enables teachers to give students constructive feedback as well as give them a broader perspective on the topic of their choice. This sample essay is written by Lindsay McCormick, a male student from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. McCormick writes about his childhood and family background which led him to appreciate the power of nature vs. nurture and what it means to be a man. Through his parents' love of sports, interest in biology, and positive attitude towards helping children, McCormick grew up to be a happy and healthy young man.'Growing up, I was surrounded by boys who were avid sports fans and highly competitive male athletes,' writes McCormick. ' I'd always been a dreamer, even when I was a child, but at my boys' school, sports have long been a staple of daily life. When I think back on it, though, I realize that most of the boys in my neighborhood loved sports, excelled in their sports, and didn't like losing or playing fair.'I was different. I was the boy who looked better than everyone else at all sports, excelled in them, and didn't like to lose. I was different because I grew up in a house where we had so much love for sports. These were boys who had no better passion than winning at sports, excelling in sports, and helping other kids do the same.'In fact, most of us seemed to possess this positive attitude about everything - at least from a negative message.' 'My dad didn't care how many people I hurt in my bike races, or how many people I almost killed in track meets, or even how many people I almost lived. He simply loved to win at everything - at home, in the track meets, and at any sport he was involved in.'However , McCormick realizes that there is much to be said for nature versus nurture, and why some people embrace the importance of nurture and others resist it. McCormick provides a detailed description of his upbringing in order to illustrate the things that he learned from his father.'He also gave me a gift, a natural ability to look at things and solve problems that didn't occur to me. This made me very interested in biology and its relation to life. The way the human brain works is really fascinating to me.'I know I can't expect teachers to give us all the answers, but sometimes they'll notice a pattern in your behavior and make you aware of that. I never really expected that,' writes McCormick. 'However, I'm glad I've finally learned that certain things are nature vs. nurture.
